Gita Cerveira
Gita started his career at the public television of Angola right after Angola’s independence in 1975, working on documentaries. He also works for a documentary with the Angolan Cinema Institute documenting Angola’s exciting transition to an independent country. His first master was the world-renown Antoine Bonfanti, a French sound engineer.
In 1980 Gita moved to Paris, where he was based for 16 years, continuing his professional training with Mr. Bonfanti and Jean Baily at Neciphone.
Gita made his debut in the film industry as an assistant to Mr. Bonfanti and other sound engineers, He has worked in more than 100 Films including short and features films, TV series, and Documentaries in France, Portugal, and the USA; Several of the Films have received awards for.
Gita was nominated for a Cesar for Best Sound in France and won the 2013 South Africa Best Sound prize (SAFTAS). In 2010 he was awarded the Premio ANDORINHA ( Cineport – Career award ).
Gita has worked with world renowned directors including Manoel de Oliveira (Portugal), Raul Ruiz (Chile – France), João César Monteiro (Portugal), Ze Fonseca e Costa (Portugal), Manuel Pradal (Fra), Alexandre Arcady (Fra), John Irvin (USA), Zeze Gamboa (Angola), Licínio de Azevedo (Mozambique), Ramadan Suleman (RSA), Charlie Vundla (RSA), Christian Faber (USA) Kagiso Lediga (RSA), Zola Maseko (RSA) and Michael Margimain (Swedish).
