Athos Kyriakides
Athos Kyriakides has been working in the film and television industry in Los Angeles, London, and South Africa, as a Writer, Director and Script Editor for the past 20 years.
He has written more than 400 episodes combined for e-tv’s prime-time daily drama Scandal, and SABC3’s former flagship show, Isidingo. He was the Head Writer of the crime drama series Mshika-Shika, made for M-NET’s Mzansi Magic, writing 5 episodes and directing 3.
As Head Writer of the post-apocalyptic Sci-Fi drama, ‘Room 9’, for SABC1, he directed 2 episodes and as well as writing 6, for which he won a 2014 South African Film and Television Award in the category Best Writing Team of a TV Drama Series.
In 2015 he co-wrote the feature film, ‘Mandela’s Gun’, for maverick British filmmaker John Irvin (‘The Dogs of War’, ‘Hamburger Hill’). He served as the Senior Resident Writer at ‘Isidingo’, between 2014 – 2017, and as the senior breakdown in 2019.
‘Agent’ a new 13 x 48-minute drama series that he conceived, set behind the scenes in the football world is his first as Creator, Head Writer, and Series show-runner. French broadcaster, Canal +, has co-produced and SABC1 is set to broadcast the series from the 8th of March 2020 at a 21:30 timeslot. It is currently streaming worldwide on Netflix as of the 20th of December, 2019.
