What is production insurance and why is it necessary
Applying for production insurance in Mauritius and Internationally
Course Overview
Students will receive an overview of the various components and processes involved in the coordination of film productions (including commercials). The course aims to introduce students to the production processes involved as well as the role the production department in each of these processes including the ability to identify and understand all key crew roles on set and the various departments on set, set protocols and etiquette, a more in-depth introduction to the production department and reporting lines, an introduction to basic scheduling and budgeting, handling of monies and being able to conduct a petty cash reconciliation, introduction to booking procedures for locations, studios, gear and equipment as well as production insurances, crew and cast contracts, cast coordination, location scouting and agreements, facilitation of technical recces and gear check protocols.
Lesson Overview
Having adequate production insurance is a crucial component when organising your shoots as it covers you for all sorts of unforeseen things that can go wrong (from your cast getting sick, to wardrobe getting stolen, damage to equipment and hired in vehicles).
