Students will receive an overview of the various components and processes involved in the coordination of Film Productions (including commercials) both locally and Internationally.
The course will aim to introduce students to the following:
- Crew roles and hierarchy on set (who’s who on set), above-the-line and below-the-line film crew.
- The production department: hierarchy and day-to-day operations.
- The production process – Pre-production, Production (Shoot), Post-production.
- The roles and responsibilities of the production coordinator (pre-production, shoot and post-production)
- Set protocols and etiquette (including COVID-19 shoot regulations and general set safety)
- Basic scheduling and budgeting (a more in-depth approach is taken in our advanced course)
- Daily petty cash and recons of monies.
- Standard gear and equipment (and booking & management thereof)
- Production insurances.
- Crew and cast contracts.
- Casting coordination.
- Location scouting and location agreements.
- Technical recce and Gear check protocols.
- The Production File: All production paperwork including breaking down a script and putting together a call sheet, casting brief, shooting schedule and crew time sheets.
