Film Producing, Economy & Finance

An overview of the film ecosystem and film finance. How film and media projects are financed, and the different models available. We will examine the current state of the global industry and see what financial models we can apply in our region.
These will include government opportunities such as Rebates and Tax incentives, broadcastor and platform commissions, co-productions and investments, sales, and distribution, private equity investments, negative pickup deals and industry investments such as equipment investments and deferments.
Each Course or module will be two weeks in length.
THEORY
The 1st week will involve an introduction to the theory with regards each specific module.
PRACTICE
The 2nd week will involve the physical production of a 3-minute film, by students organized in teams, which will be conceived, prepared, filmed and edited by themselves.
MENTORING
- These films and students will be mentored by the Tutors;
- Students will be encouraged to build up a body of work, both during and after their courses.
- Students will be encouraged to specialize from the beginning.
- And to form creative teams where they will learn to work in groups.
