Film Accounting for beginners is ideal for students who have a working knowledge of basic accounting and bookkeeping. Students will be exposed to the basic principles of Film Accounting, learn about:
- What is Production Accounting
- Roles & Responsibilities in the Production Accounting Department
- Film Terminology, Departments & Crew Roles / Responsibilities
- Budgeting, Cash Flow & Reporting
- Petty Cash
- Accounts Payable
- Payroll
- Post Production Accounting
The Workshop / Course will be three weeks in length
Theory
Week 1 & 2 will be theory based and will involve an introduction to Production Accounting and an in depth look at the roles & responsibilities within the Production Accounting Department.
Practical
Week 3 will involve Practical Lessons on how to do Petty Cash, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Reporting. After each lesson, the student’s knowledge will be tested in the form of a quiz.
Once the 3 weeks have been completed, the student will be assessed on both theory and practice.
Outcome
- Student will understand the various roles within the Production Accounting Department.
- Students will understand the different Accounting Procedures incl. the approval process / tracking systems / reporting & filing.
- The student will be able to apply their knowledge of Petty Cash / Payroll & Accounts Payable in a working environment.
