Acting for Film: Beginners Level

This course is for novices in acting and performances. It gives exposure to students to the art and a craft of acting. The course emphasizes the technical demands of screen acting. Students will learn to adjust their performances specifically for the camera frame, adjusting for close-ups and wide shots. Students will be exposed to the protocols and dynamics of acting, how to prepare a role, and on set etiquette. It will examine how to approach a script and basic acting techniques.
Each Course or module will be two weeks in length.
THEORY
The 1st week will involve an introduction to the theory with regards each specific module.
PRACTICE
The 2nd week will involve the physical production of a 3-minute film, by students organized in teams, which will be conceived, prepared, filmed and edited by themselves.
MENTORING
- These films and students will be mentored by the Tutors;
- Students will be encouraged to build up a body of work, both during and after their courses.
- Students will be encouraged to specialize from the beginning.
- And to form creative teams where they will learn to work in groups.
