International Film School Mauritius is a new film school offering professional-level education and technical training across all the key departments of multimedia screen work. It was created in 2019 by a group of screen professionals from around the world who are committed to building up a powerful skills base and a vibrant screen storytelling culture in the Indian Ocean. The school is based at Film Studio Building, M2 Motorway, 31302 The Vale, Rivière du Rempart, Republic of Mauritius.

IFSM provides workshop training, screen education, and industry internship opportunities, underpinned by up-to-date digital technologies. It uses its profound accumulated knowledge of local production and skills needs, best practice in film school teaching around the world and its understanding of fast-changing global entertainment markets to shape its ambitious programs.

In 2020-21 IFSM offers short workshop programs, from Beginners’ to Advanced levels, as well as combined departmental classes and film industry-related Masterclasses.

IFSM’s key assets are its experienced, dedicated, and inspiring teachers and its young and dynamic delivery team, working together to supply valuable targeted training and to build up a strong filmmaking community.

IFSM collaborates with MEDIAVISION Film Equipment Rental, the company that provides modern equipment to international and local producers in Mauritius, for the supply of professional equipment and materials for practical courses.

Our dedicated local role: The attractions of Mauritius as a location, matched with the Government Film Rebate Scheme, have sparked off growing demand for production from international filmmakers, with many feature films and TV series being shot on the island every year. However, Mauritius still lacks depth in its local technical and support crews. The International Film School Mauritius aims to fill this gap by providing practical courses, using its state-of-the-art training facilities, to empower a skilled and employable workforce on the island.
